THE BLUE LINK TRIO
What I needed (independent)
In the very short time The Blue Link Trio has been on the local blues scene,
they've made quite an impression. Sweet Felicia (vocals and Bass), Dangerous
Dan Nosovich (guitar) and Trevor Gollagher (drums) have earned an enviable
reputation as one of Brisbane's tightest and most popular blues acts. It's
an extra delight to see them put out their debut CD so soon and what a CD
it is! Eleven great tracks, five of them original and class all the way. Sweet
Felicia's mellifluous vocals are the perfect vehicle for the well-chosen and
sometimes diverse material. The warm, rich tones of Dan's guitar, uncluttered
and direct, further enhance the sound. And always there's Trevor's rock-steady,
yet dynamic rhythms laying the foundations with Felicia's bass. The originals,
predominantly written by Felicia, stand up well against the covers from the
likes of Elmore James and Willie Dixon. I look forward to her further efforts.
As a songwriter she has a great potential, and thats not belittling her other
contributions. If I had to choose favourites, I would pick the title track
which is decidedly groovy and the big finish of Jimmy Witherspoon's Times
Gettin' Tougher than Tough, but in reality every song has its own special
magic.

THE BLUE LINK TRIO
What I Needed (independent)
Last year we were all shocked and saddened by the breakup of one of our finest bands . They were at their peak and had obtained national recognition. They were Lil' Fi and the Delta Rhythm Kings. Out of the ashes and rising like a phoenix, is this new band, The Blue Link Trio. Sweet Felicia played bass and shared song writing and vocal duties with the Delta Rhythm Kings for over four years, and I have no doubt that Felicia was instrumental in the success of the band. Sweet Felicia was never one to quit and called on long-time drummer, Trevor Gollagher who had previously been a member of the Rhythm Kings. Because of personal reasons, he had had a four and a half year break from the pub scene and was looking for something better. He has found that with The Blue Link Trio. So now they had a great rhythm section and vocalist. Who could possibly fill the bill as the swingin' guitarist? It is almost impossible to believe that the final member of The Blue Link Trio has only just had his twenty-first birthday. Daniel Nosovich or Dangerous Dan, as he was christened by Red Rivers while playing in Red's band at last year's East Coast Blues Festival, completes the Trio. Just wait till you hear this band. I'm sure that in the hospital that Daniel was born in, radios throughout the wards must have been blasting out guitar solos from Charlie Christian, T-bone Walker, Bill Jennings, Hollywood Fats, Junior Watson and Teddy Morgan, and their sounds impregnated him. Sweet Felicia wrote four tracks all great. My favourite is Knows How To Love. The whole band wrote Blues That You Had. Covers include songs by Elmore James, Willie Dixon, Jimmy Witherspoon, Bill Jennings and Peggy Lee. Alexandria V.A. lets Felicia concentrate totally on the bass and gives the whole band a great workout. There are too many highlights to list. Congratulations Blue Link Trio, it's a winner!
